How I got into Sewing:
I took my then girlfriend to Old Navy, to buy her a dress. I was shocked at the quality of the clothing. Women actually paid money for this stuff? Old Navy clothes were so ugly, why they would have made dogs bark and children cry. Seriously. So the next day, May 10th, 2012, I bought a cheap Janome mechanical and tried to learn garment sewing. It was hard, really hard. Luckily, I met a woman who was a former sewing instructor at Parsons. I took lessons from her, off and on, for about 3 years. Sure, I paid a lot of money but how many people get gifted with such an opportunity? It’s one thing to get sewing instruction. It is quite another to be guided by the sure instincts of a great master.
All my life I worked in the dreary fields of engineering support. Then I discovered fashion sewing. It is as if all my life I had been surrounded by particle board furniture and then, one day, I walked into the Ethan Allen showroom.
This little store grew out of my sewing hobby.I sell mostly fabrics for garments. I have an intermediate level of sewing ability. My experience guides me in the selection of my fabrics. Most of my fabric is woven and dyed in South Korea.
Quality Fabrics
I believe that the quality of the fabric you choose is essential to the success of your project. Quality fabric presses better, ravels less and is easier to sew with.
